Hope

When I was younger—in my twenties—I used to think that your fifties must be this incredible milestone. I imagined that by then, you would know if you had made it in life. If you were safe. If you had built something lasting. If your children were okay. If you had a home, stability, peace, and the ability to rest.

Now I can hardly believe I’m heading in that direction myself. I’m only ten years away from the age I once looked at with such wonder. And when I look around, I realize the answer is yes—everything I poured into my life mattered.

The sacrifices I made when my children were little… the prayers I whispered through exhaustion… the financial and emotional stretching… all of it paid off. I can look at my children now—strong, kind, healthy, grounded. One is already fully financially independent, and the other is right there. They love the Lord. They are good humans living meaningful lives.

My husband and I have been married for 20 years. Our home is paid for. We are retired. We are secure. I’m even stepping into a new chapter, pursuing my master’s degree. When I look at it honestly, the answer is yes—every sacrifice was worth it.

And yet, I know this wasn’t just because I worked hard. It was because I stayed faithful. Because I trusted God when things felt uncertain, when life didn’t look like it was going the “right” way. I held onto His promises, even when I couldn’t see the outcome. Life wasn’t perfect—it was often painful—but He was faithful.

Now, standing in my forties, I can finally see the fruit of that faithfulness. I can see how God carried me, shaped me, and kept His word. And for that, my heart is full of gratitude and praise.
